The Simpsons Movie

Hommer and 'Harry Plopper' / ' Spiderpig '

Mr. Ned Flanders

I was watchig The Simpsons movie and suddenly I came over this line when The Simpsons are feeling from a burning mob that threatened to kill the whole family. Finally when Mr.Flanders the neighbour offered to help them he place a wooden piece of wood to the window of The Simpsons house suddenly came Harry Plopper, Homer's pet pig which he adopted when he saw Krusty the clown use it for a commercial advertisment. So homer told the pet pig aka 'Harry Plopper' if u push that daddy will die. But in the end ' harry plopper ' did push the bridge down and homer fell down haha...

Fallacies of Ambiguity

This afternoon I was talking to my friend eugene. I asked him i prefer portrait / shooting fashion shows so the question is what lens should I get? But I told him I wanted a fix appature lens that is F2.8 lens or more knowned for nikkor lenses are those lens that has a gold ring at the front of the lens. This range of lens are at the top of the range the cost a bomb to own them easily cost over RM4000.
So in the end herecomended 2 lenses.

1. Nikkor 70mm-200mm F2.8 VR this is a telehpoto zoom lens.

2. Nikkor 85mm F1.4  Portrait lens, very very sharp but fix focal length

So the debate was going on for 1 hour and he told me this 1 is good for this tat 1 is good for that so which one u advise to buy??

Eugene is using one of the fallacy that I learned in BCT1024 (critical thinking). The Fallacies Of Ambiguity is applied here. Because Eugene made me very confused in deciding which lens to buy argH!

Having learned many thinking methods in critical thinking lecture, I will now decide to use BRAINSTORMING method.

Whenever I see someone in starbucks or in campus with a macbook what can my brain think of?

I will try to list whatever I can think of the macbook in 5 minutes

1, 2, 3 GO!

This is the list what come in my mind if I see someone with a macbook :

Re-Writing Forest Gump

I love this movie very much. It is the most touching movie I ever watch; besides it’s also funny. The most famous quote from this movie would be ‘mama said life is like a box of chocolates’. The main character Forest Gump although he is a little disabled he does care and live his life to the fullest.

Synopsis : (quoted from imdb)

The film begins with a feather falling to the feet of Forrest Gump who is sitting at a bus stop in Savannah, Georgia. Forrest picks up the feather and puts it in the book Curious George, then tells the story of his life to a woman seated next to him. The listeners at the bus stop change regularly throughout his narration, each showing a different attitude ranging from disbelief and indifference to rapt veneration.

On his first day of school, he meets a girl named Jenny, whose life is followed in parallel to Forrest's at times. Having discarded his leg braces, his ability to run at lightning speed gets him into college on a football scholarship. After his college graduation, he enlists in the army and is sent to Vietnam, where he makes fast friends with a black man named Bubba, who convinces Forrest to go into the shrimping business with him when the war is over. Later while on patrol, Forrest's platoon is attacked. Though Forrest rescues many of the men, Bubba is killed in action. Forrest is awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his heroism.

While Forrest is in recovery for a bullet shot to his "butt-tox", he discovers his uncanny ability for ping-pong, eventually gaining popularity and rising to celebrity status, later playing ping-pong competitively against Chinese teams. At an anti-war rally in Washington, D.C. Forrest reunites with Jenny, who has been living a hippie counterculture lifestyle.

Returning home, Forrest endorses a company that makes ping-pong paddles, earning himself $25,000, which he uses to buy a shrimping boat, fulfilling his promise to Bubba. His commanding officer from Vietnam, Lieutenant Dan, joins him. Though initially Forrest has little success, after finding his boat the only surviving boat in the area after Hurricane Carmen, he begins to pull in huge amounts of shrimp and uses it to buy an entire fleet of shrimp boats. Lt. Dan invests the money in Apple Computer and Forrest is financially secure for the rest of his life. He returns home to see his mother's last days.

One day, Jenny returns to visit Forrest and he proposes marriage to her. She declines, though feels obliged to prove her love to him by sleeping with him. She leaves early the next morning. On a whim, Forrest elects to go for a run. Seemingly capriciously, he decides to keep running across the country several times, over some three and a half years, becoming famous.

In present-day, Forrest reveals that he is waiting at the bus stop because he received a letter from Jenny who, having seen him run on television, asks him to visit her. Once he is reunited with Jenny, Forrest discovers she has a young son, of whom Forrest is the father. Jenny tells Forrest she is suffering from a virus (probably HIV, though this is never definitively stated).[1][2][3] Together the three move back to Greenbow, Alabama. Jenny and Forrest finally marry. Jenny dies soon afterward.

The film ends with father and son waiting for the school bus on little Forrest's first day of school. Opening the book his son is taking to school, the white feather from the beginning of the movie is seen to fall from within the pages. As the bus pulls away, the white feather is caught on a breeze and drifts skyward.

My preferred ending of the movie:

My ending would be like when forest came back from Vietnam, Bubba should not have died in the war and the both of the started the shrimping business and make Bubba Gump a successful brand in the shrimp business. Although Jenny was a drug addict she quitted the drugs and finally had a baby boy who forest was the father. Jenny shouldn’t have died of HIV she and forest should be together and raise their child together at their home in Alabama. I like how the director illustrates the feather was caught by a breeze and drifts skyward. This is to show how precious life is and one should never ever waste it.

Speed trap 110 KM/H

Torrentting / download takes up alot of bandwidth of the internet line. Being a heavy torrent user, I always receive complains from my housemates. 'hoi line too laggy' 'surfing is so slow' 'y i am lagging in my online games'. Apparently I have sucked up all the bandwith that is provided by the ISP (internet service provider). Thats why this problem accurs. So one day my housemate come and told me if you are not going to stop torrenting I will unplug your lan cable that is connected to the router. So immediately after he told me to do so I shutdown my torrents.

Application of BCT 1024 :

2. Ad populum appeal to force

if you are not going to stop torrenting I will unplug your lan cable that is connected to the router.

This is a warning message that is pass on to me if I dont stop then I will face the problem of being unpluged to the internet.

YL pudu plaza

YL camera is a famous camera shop in Kuala Lumpur. Its located a Pudu Plaza a very old shopping complex located near Berjaya Times Square. So last week me and my friend went there to scout for second hand Nikon mount lens. After scouting for half an hour we finally left the shop. On the way back he kept whinning about how bad the service was and bla bla... But instead he was the one who kept hang the YL word on his mouth that the things are cheap and the service is good.

Aday before that I was running late for submission of my part for an assignment. The group leader told me that if I cant finish it by the night he wont add my name into the group list. So instead of slacking around my room I sat infront of the computer for 2 hours to complete the assignment.

Aplication of BCT 1024:

1.Tu quoque Fallacy

he kept whinning about how bad the service was and bla bla... But instead he was the one who kept hang the YL word on his mouth that the things are cheap and the service is good.

2. Ad populum appeal to force

My group leader told me to finish by night or else... I wont receive marks for my assignment

A night out with my former housemate

On the 29th night of August, my friend which was from Malacca campus drove up to cyberjaya and brought me to shoot the final fireworks display for the MIFC ( Malaysia International Fireworks Competition) which was held at Putrajaya. Knowing Putrajaya and cyberjaya was famous for their windy and complicated roads, I ask him when I was in the car. How did u managed to drove all the way to cyberjaya campus? Aha! he said it was no sweat because he used a GPS ( global positioning system device)! While we are having our dinner at the PICC convetion center, he was mentioning about RCW and then about comities members, robots... I went to total blank when I heard about that. Hence I ask him to enlighten me. Well its RCW ( Robotics Challenge Week) this event was held at Malacca campus hosted by Engsoc of MMU Malacca campus. Finally I went (ohhhh) after his explanation.

1. Knowledge Accessibility- Explicit Knowledge

Aha! he said it was no sweat because he used a GPS ( global positioning system device)!

- He reached cyberjaya campus without a sweat because the GPS is kind of like a digital and interactive map. Almost the entire Kuala Lumpur and I might say Malaysia is covered by the GPS. It is very useful when traveling around Kuala Lumpur when the streets and road are like so complicated and there are so many roads to memorize. Plus if you are not from Kuala Lumpur the probability that u might get lost is very big.

2. Thinking Process and Knowledge- Semantic Knowledge

Well its RCW ( Robotics Challenge Week) this event was held at Malacca campus hosted by Engsoc of MMU Malacca campus.

- This is a semantic knowledge because he explained to me that RCW = robotics challenge week

P/s I hope Mr. Nizam wont deduct my assignment marks Because this post was ment for 30th of august sorry for the late post

To go or not to go

Since last night was merdeka celebration night my friends rang me up and asked me out for the countdown. However I cant decide on whether to go or just stay at home. So I told my friend Eddie that if he goes then I will go. being so undeceive, from what I learned from critical thinking, hence I can apply the (deductive reasoning of hypothetical syllogism).

1) Modus ponens (Affirming the antecedent) - Valid
-If Eddie is going, then I will go
-Eddie is going, so I will go. (yay)

2) Denying the antecedent - Invalid
-If Eddie’s going, then I’ll go
-I will not go, therefore Eddie’s not going. (Eddie might go with his other friends)

3) Modus tollens (Denying the consequent) - Valid
-If Eddie’s going, then I’ll go
-Eddie’s not going, so I will not go.

4) Affirming the consequent - Invalid
-If Eddie’s going, then I’ll go
-I’ll go, therefore Eddie’s going. (Eddie might stay at home and sleep)

So this question was bugging me.

Come to think of it, it was wise that I did not went for the countdown and rest at home instead. Thinking of assignments and next week's presentation makes me worried.

Malaysia international fireworks competetion (MIFC 2008)

Ok it was on the 20th of August and it was another show for MIFC and it’s was team Canada's turn. Well although this week was super busy week for me because I remembered that I had 3 midterms crammed in the week:

1. HRM midterm (100 mcqs)

2. Mock job interview for managerial communication (20 marks)

3. Critical thinking midterm...

It was like me getting run over by a bullet train the fireworks was on Wednesday night didn’t care much about the exams and the rest, because for a photographer a missed shot is like #$%!* especially if it’s a good one I will whine n whine and whine…

Well on to the fireworks then. Was really anticipating shooting fireworks for the 1st time so prepared my camera then left cyberia around 7.45 reached Putrajaya central around 8 and board the free shutter bus to the Putrajaya International Convention Center (PICC). The bus did not stop us near the convention center but actually stopped at Dataran Gemilang and it was so damn far for the Dataran to the convention center. I measured with Google earth and it was an staggering 1.1KM walk. Arriving at the Dataran around 8.30PM me and my friend was aiming to get the best spot in the convention center so we alternately transformed into a rocket knowing we had to make up the lost time so we sped to the convention center as fast as possible. At last we reach there after searching for a good spot to setup our camera we finally cou

ld have a rest, by the time both of us were soaking in sweat. But the effort was worth it because the view was ‘perfecto’ sweet spot was discovered by the both of us.

While waiting for the show to start at 10pm, I was thinking all fireworks have bright and sparking colours, therefore all fireworks must be bright and colourfull.

Ok enough of the story let’s move on with some pictures!

p/s the pictures were watermarked by myself because I don’t want some guy later copy paste it in their blog / site n say “hey this was my picture for PICC”

And by the way I can say my pictures are far better than the official photographer of MIFC click here to look at his shots! Compare mine and his and give me a comment okay :p!

Implementation from BCT syllabus:

1. it was like me getting run over by a bullet train

· This is a Metaphor. I used this to express how stressful it was because it was really a busy and difficult. Metaphor is used to create a comparative image in a person’s mind, without using comparative qualifiers.

2. so we alternately transformed into a rocket knowing we had to make up the lost time so we sped to the convention center as fast as possible

· This is a simile, it was used to describe how desperate we were in reaching in time and find a good spot for the show. Similes are used to compare the expressions of both of us with some other ideas that create an image.

3. “all fireworks have bright and sparking colours, therefore all fireworks must be bright and colourful

· This is an Inductive Generalization because my statement is drawing towards a generalization, as a likely conclusion from other observations. Inductive Generalization falls under the Inductive Reasoning.
